Happy Friday!

It's Friday, and I'm excited.

I'm excited that I have two days off work.
I'm excited I'm going out with John's family tonight for dinner.
I'm excited that my new shoes came today (wearing them right now!).
I'm excited that I got a reach to photograph a wedding.

I'm also excited that I'm working on my website, and it'll be live soon! So that's VERY exciting.

I wonder how many times you can use the word exciting without it losing all meaning?!

Also, I'm going to be doing a fun lamp DIY in the next few weeks. It's a pretty ugly brown thing, but it has potential to be something excellent... can you guess what I'm going to say? EXCITING!

Ok, check out this lovely lady's photography. I'm really in love it it. You just HAVE to see it.

And, here's something to make you smile! :)

Long weekend + beaches & sunshine

This past weekend was excellent. It was a long weekend, so we got to chill out and do whatever we wanted (doesn't happen too often!).

I did a bush run (John did one too, but he runs at a faster pace!) and stacked it pretty bad. My skins are ripped (might have to invest in some 2XU's??) and got a pretty gross gash on my knee. But I continued on for another 20 mins, and felt pretty good (apart from the knee-gash).

We watched a new TV series (The Tudors - reviews anyone?), spent lazy afternoons in the sun reading The Casual Vacancy, took Marley to a beach (with the whitest sand ever!) stayed up late and watched scary movies, had a bbq and just relaxed; it was heaven.

Here are some of my snaps :)

Also, I enrolled in my Diploma in Photography! Very exciting!

It's by correspondance and I haven't had the best luck before sticking to such a relaxed schedule - any tips?

xx

A Learning Experience

I've been sick all this week (the flu going around right now is damn clingy!) and I'm only now getting the chance to check out the photos from last Saturday's wedding.

It was a lovely ceremony, and quite a learning experience. I learnt bits and pieces from another photographer who was there - he has knowledge! It was pretty interesting. For example, he told me that if you want to be an assistant photographer, the way he went about it, was nagging. He found a photographer who's work he really loved and just didn't give up when he was told no. He said you'll get told NO a lot, and just don't give up - if it's what you really want to do.

So for any photographers who I admire, who might be reading this - I apologize!

I also learnt a few tips, like getting nice and close to an object (I already do that, I love macro photography) and changing the viewpoint. He had a pretty awesome camera set up too. A 5D Mark II, with a diffuser and battery pack. It looked most excellent!

Here's a little sneak peak :)

More pics to come!

Shooting my First Wedding

Wowzers. I'm pretty stoked. I'm going to be a second shooter; I can't tell you how exciting that is for me!

I think there'll be at least two other photographers there, so not too much pressure for a newbie like me.

So I've been browsing, looking for any tips, tricks etc... and I found some interesting stuff.

Check out this article, about shooting a wedding and enjoying it.

And this one, the absolute basics for wedding photography for amateurs.

Excellent basics, what shots to take and some tips.

A Photographer's List - handy!

50 Must Have Shots - I love this!

I don't really know what to expect, but below are two group shots that I just have to get!

Also, I've been browsing the blogs of lovely ladies who inspire me - Jasmine, Gabby, Katelyn
 and Laura

Wish me luck!

Happy Thursday :)

Annalise Braakensiek Jewellery Launch

So I photographed a little shindig (or soiree?) hosted by Annalise Braakensiek on Saturday. Admittedly, it put me a little out of my comfort zone but I learnt some valuable things. But the most important? I'm shy. I know it, but surrounded in a room full of people that I'd never met - and having to ask if I could take their picture, well, that was waaay outta my comfort zone.

Kinda fun though.

Here are a couple of pics from her jewellery launch (amazing stuff too - one word: turquoise).

Gaskell Guitars Sneak Peak!

Ok, so I did a photoshoot on the weekend. With some wicked guitars and the dude who makes 'em.

Here's a little sneak peak!

It was a little out of my comfort zone, but it was fun and I learnt a lot!

Occupying my brain space.

I love browsing my favorite blogs and Pinterest for interesting finds. Here are some fan-freakin-tastic things I love, or are annoyed about. Or things I think are pretty :)

This lovely Ring DIY, from Sincerely Kinsey. I really want to make one of these.

Motherhood Mondays from A Cup of Jo. One of my close friends is almost 6 months preggers (woah! where did the time go?) and I think she'd like this article

This article, from Hello Giggles. Our Liesel is an amazing athlete and we're super proud of her. The criticism over her weight caused an uproar. I was just speechless that the critics thought it actually mattered?!

These awesome kettlebell workouts, I can't wait to try them!

You can never have too many pairs of boots, right? Right?

This dude's website, fantastic photography articles.

Hairstyles worn by ladies in 1910. I love that you can wear some of these styles now, and they're considered bohemian or chic :)

Also, this article. She's a true hero.

A Day - Picture Today, Inspire Tomorrow

Have you heard about A Day? It's a movement to inspire with photos from all around the world.

On 15th May 2012, millions of people photographed things/places/people that were important to them. Awesome. I signed up, and took some photos from my daily life.

Check out my page here and for more info and the about page, click here.

The pics below are ones I didn't include, but ones I liked nonetheless :)

Taking these made me think though, how often do we let the little moments pass us by? Whether it's a beautiful sunset or a funny moment between dog and owner - they matter, and we should remember to appreciate them!

Sunflower Fields!

Sunflowers. Don't they just make you want to smile??

Well my boyfriend's Dad told me about sunflower fields that he's seen in Western NSW, and I'm so excited about making a trip there! I've always wanted to take some pictures somewhere like that, out in the country and the fields! Check out my pinterest board! :) And, speaking of photography, my friend Ruthie would like me to do a shoot with her little baby Ruby and her husband - so I'm very excited about that! :)

In other news, tomorrow is Anzac Day which is a day we remember the Aussies who fought in WW1, and we'll be having a BBQ and a chill out!

So I hope you're having a GREAT week!

Happy Easter!

Hope you all have a wonderful Easter! Whether you celebrate it or not, or just have an extra excuse to eat chocolate (ahem, me); or if you're going away with loved ones I hope it's an excellent long weekend!

And for those of you who don't like chocolate or just can't eat it - how do you celebrate? Do you make fun Easter baskets? Or buy yogurt/carob eggs or bunnies? Or get flowers? (I did, see second pic of my orange flowers!) I'd love to know!

Photography Excitement

Well I'm still editing my photos from my photo shoot on Saturday, but I just wanted to express my EXTREME excitement at actually doing my first shoot! It felt awesome to be able to be behind the camera, and I captured some really sweet moments, which is why I love photography. Eliza and Kamran are very much in love, and it is written all over their faces! I also learnt so much just from that one shoot, and I'm so excited to do my next one!

So I'll post all the (good) pics once I've given them to the bride-to-be, however here is another one which I absolutely love.

Hope you're all having a spectacular Tuesday! :)

Hey life, I'm coming to get you

So, after being at my current job for 3 1/2 years, I have decided to resign!
It's a big step for me, but I'm very excited.

I've decided to pursue photography, and although the job I'm going to isn't a photography job, it is part time which will enable me to have time to do a correspondence course and spend more time taking photos and exploring the possibilities.

But I probably wouldn't have even entertained the notion of going part time and pursuing photography if it wasn't for all the amazing photography blogs that I've been reading, namely Gabby from En Route Photography. She has really inspired me to pursue my dream of becoming a photographer and for that I'm very grateful.

So wish me luck, I'll probably need it!

Happy Hump Day!

Displaying photos in the nest

I love photo's. Preferably printed ones, hung on string or taken on my polaroid, or pinned to a board.

This is how we do it in our house.

How do you like to display your photos?

Inspiration Board

So my photoshoot is coming up soon, and I've been madly looking for things I'd like to include.

I like to think I know my best friend pretty well, so I hope she'll like what I've got in mind!

My first photoshoot (in a few weeks time)!!

Well, I'm very excited. One of my close friends wants to get some shots with her boyfriend for their fourth anniversary. This will be my first photoshoot that is actually, well, a photoshoot!

I'm going to try and incorporate things they like into the shoot. For example, they both like cooking together, so I might do a few shots in the kitchen. Some in the park with a picnic blanket, some candid and fun ones and some romantic ones!

Check out my photoshoot inspiration board on pinterest!

I'll post some pics afterwards! :)
