DIY Bathroom Storage/Jewelry Stand

I have a little bit of habit of collecting stuff. Cosmetics, clothes, shoes... So this weekend I made a bathroom storage stand (I've seen them around on Pinterest - check out my DIY board) so our bathroom could look a little less cluttered!

So much better. 

This is how I did it: 

One small, one large plate

Candlestick (I bought mine from Dusk)

Decorative paper (craft store) 

Crystal clear laminating spray (craft store)

Super glue (gel form works better for this)

Trace the inner circle of the plate on the paper with a light pencil or chalk (pen comes through!). 

Cut out the paper, and super glue it onto the plate. Let it set. 

Spray plates with laminating spray, wait at least an hour for it to set. I'd advise doing it outside - it's quite smelly! 

Once both plates are dry, use the super glue to attach the candlestick to each plate. Press down firmly. 

Wait an hour or so, then put it in your bathroom! You could also make use it as a cake or jewelry stand :)  

It definitely made my bathroom more guest-worthy for the BBQ we had on the weekend!

Bling Trees Jewellery (Photos!)

This week has been a busy one so far, I've been photographing a jewellery line for a friend of mine - called Bling Trees. She has some lovely stuff, and I'm so excited to be photographing it for her!

DIY Framed Chalkboard

Have you guys watched The Hunger Games yet? Read the books? What did you think?? I read the books about  2 years ago, and we saw the movie on Saturday night and I thought it was excellent!
And also, John is now reading the books! :)

Anyway, a few weeks ago I made an ornate framed chalkboard for my photoshoot - and I'm really happy the way it turned out! It was sooo easy too; as in, white paint and chalkboard paint.

I bought the chipboard at Spotlight, but they should have something similar at any craft store. I'm thinking of buying another for another DIY - so I'll post it when I do! :) 

Chalkboard Coaster DIY

I really love the idea of chalkboards; I have one on my door and I would like to have one in my kitchen with some funny cooking quote on it or something. So on the weekend, I made some coasters - you know how people forget who's drink is who's, well now they won't!

Striped Frame DIY

Don't get me wrong, I love classic white for photo frames, but there's something fun and chipper about red stripes.

I love that it actually looks like I made it, the little imperfections make it more personal! (But that's totally my opinion :P) 

On another note, I found this amazing site via Adelyn Stone (her blog is amazing by the way, lots of DIY's, tutorials, tips and yummy recipes!) called Picnik where you can create your own button, pics and lots of fun additives (which is how I did my photos above). Unfortunately they're closing on April 19th, so use it while you can! It's SO easy and fun.

Faux Leather DIY Cuff

I love simple DIY's; throwing something handmade together with just a few supplies is one of my favorite things to do! Not to mention I also love the fact that I'm wearing something totally original. Plus, I'm loving copper and rose gold, so I'm trying to include it in as many projects as possible!

So, this is what you need:

10 - 15cm of faux leather
Copper wire
Jump rings
Swivel clips

What you do: 

Cut some leather/vinyl the length of your wrist, with about 1-2 cm extra. 

Make a hole in each end, and thread the rings through. 

Attach the clip on one side, and you're done!

I'm thinking I might add some studs or pearls on it, for a little oomph! :)

A Pair and a Spare

Wow, what a great DIY website! A Pair and a Spare is a DIY fashion website by an Aussie chick called Geneva. She has some great advice for newbie bloggers (like me!) and some awesome DIY stuff.

Boat neck Men's tee

You know what I like? Men's t-shirts. They always have cool designs on them, and are (usually) the right length. I'm not a huge fan of crop tops!

But they do look a little too masculine on me, so by cutting the top off, they look a little more girly.

Grab a men's tee from your local store. This is from Kmart - $10!

Next, try it on and pencil in where you want to cut it off. Turn it inside out, and draw (with a pencil) around the neck.

Then, cut around the neck.

Voila! :)

Ripped cut offs + slouchy mens tee + thongs - bring on summer!
